First day at GITEX Africa in Marrakech!

What an extraordinary first day at GITEX Africa 2025 in Marrakech!

As exhibitors, we could hardly have asked for a more inspiring beginning.

The opening day of GITEX Africa Morocco 2025 once again demonstrated why Marrakech has become one of the most important meeting points for technology, entrepreneurship and innovation across the African continent.

More than 1,400 exhibitors representing over 130 countries gathered in Marrakech, together with investors, institutions, technology leaders and thousands of professionals sharing one common ambition: to help shape Africa’s digital future.

The opening ceremony gave an exceptional sense of the importance of this mission.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the inauguration featured an address by H.E. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government of Morocco, who highlighted the ambition for Africa not simply to experience the digital revolution, but to actively shape and direct it for the benefit of its people.

It was also a privilege to see H.E. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, take such a prominent role in the opening of the event, emphasising Morocco’s determination to become a producer and creator of technology, with artificial intelligence at the heart of that transformation.

A particularly significant international presence was H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, who addressed the strategic relationship between artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty and cybersecurity, and underlined the importance of international cooperation in building a secure digital future.

The opening also brought together leading figures of the Moroccan and international technology ecosystem, including Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Director General of Morocco’s Digital Development Agency, Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, and Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International.

For Walit Group, being here as an exhibitor has a special meaning.

Morocco is not simply a market for us. Through our presence in the country and our technological activities, it has become an integral part of our international identity and of the bridge we are building between Europe, Africa and the Gulf region.

Today gave us the opportunity to meet extraordinary people, discuss new projects, exchange ideas and discover once again the remarkable energy of the African technology ecosystem.

Above all, it reminded us that innovation does not happen in isolation. It happens when different cultures, skills, companies and visions meet.

So, after an intense and exciting first day, we simply want to say:

Thank you, Marrakech.
Thank you, Morocco.
And thank you to everyone who came to meet us at our stand today.

This is only Day One and we are already looking forward to what comes next.
